About Me
Hi, I'm Amy (she/her). I'm a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master's in Social Work (MSW), and I specialize in intergenerational trauma. I see clients virtually across Ontario and Alberta and in person in Calgary, and I'm a trained EMDR clinician.
A little about me: I'm a first-generation Korean-Canadian, and growing up, I was often navigating between cultures. Similar to the experiences many immigrant children, I found myself taking on grown up responsibilities at an early age, feeling the clash between family’s values and the norms around me, navigating systems with limited support, all the while trying to learn a new language.
I learned that the beliefs and patterns developed to survive have a way of following us into adulthood in ways we don't always recognize. Honestly, those experiences are a big part of what led me to social work. Since then I've worked with a lot of people who are carrying their own versions of that.
Healing looks different for everyone, and there's no right way to do it. But having someone who gets where you're coming from - it can help you feel seen, less alone, and sometimes even make the process a little lighter.
You might be here because you're working through family patterns, cultural identity, relationships, or just a feeling that something needs to shift. I’m glad you’re here & if any of this resonates, I’d love to connect.
Therapeutic Approach
I believe the best therapy happens when you feel safe enough to actually be honest. That means no judgment, no one-size-fits-all approach, and no rushing the process.
I draw from a range of tools and frameworks to explore what shapes us long before we're even aware of it - family dynamics, cultural values, the things we were taught to feel or not feel.
I try to bring all of that into the room, not just the symptoms. Because without that foundation, none of the other stuff really lands.
Who I Typically Work With
High achievers who struggle with perfectionistic tendencies
People who overthink and overanalyze
People who grew up too fast or took on too much too soon
First or second generation immigrants navigating identity and belonging
People who take on the caregiver role and put everyone else first
Those who avoid conflict or feel like they can't rock the boat
People who feel disconnected from their own needs and emotions
People who look fine on the outside but feel like they're holding a lot together underneath
